Q: No Airplay symbol on my iMac

I have a iMac (2013) and am running OS X 10.9.2 and have no access to AirPlay from my desktop, I can get it on all my iOS devices to play music on my Bose SoundLink Air but not on the iMac. I had to return the first bose SoundLink due to a defect and that set up on all iOS devices and my iMac, but not this time. I also use BT Broadband and run a BT Home Hub 3.0 Settings - Type B.

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.2), Apple TV, iPad, iPad,iPod, & iPhone

Are you attempting to send audio or video to the Bose, if it's audio then turn on iTunes, your AppleTV and set it up. Apple explains how in:
