Q: How to export quality videos from FCE to burn on DVD

I'm trying to export a movie from FCE to burn a DVD that will play on a flat screen TV. I will use iDVD to burn the disk. What format should I export in? I tried exporting as DV stream and then burning but it looks very pixelated.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6)

    Export As a Quicktime Movie.

Self-contained and Mixed Down will give best results.

A Reference file export usually works fine and can save time and space.

    Use the export in iDVD.

    Before exporting, do the following:

Sequence > Render All > Both

Sequence > Render Only > Mixdown

That prepares your sequence for exporting.

Then export to QuickTime Movie.  DO NOT export to QuickTime Conversion if your plan is to burn a DVD!

When you export, you can UNcheck the option that says "Make Movie Self-Contained."  This will speed up the export process and you can use the resulting file in iDVD the same as a self-contained movie.
