My sound wont work for text messages. The volume is turned up in the settings. The ringer works fine. When I go to change tones in the text message part of settings, I can hear all the tones- but if I get a text- it doesn't make any sound! When I switch

My sound wont work for text messages.
The volume is turned up in the settings. The ringer works fine.
When I go to change tones in the text message part of settings, I can hear all the tones- but if I get a text- it doesn't make any sound! When I switch it from vibrate back to ringer on the side of the phone, the bell shows for ringer, but when I hit the + button to turn it up, nothing happens.
help please.
Also,
my speak selection is turned on- and it doesn't speak. Nothing comes out.
But if I do to Siri- I can hear her just fine. ??????????? 😠
