Q: IconServicesAgent RAM usage

(Note: I am aware that there is an existing thread about IconServicesAgent, but in that thread much of the discussion revolves around troubleshooting high CPU usage, whereas I am not having any issue with CPU usage.)

Basically, my system is running fine, but I would like to find a way to reduce the RAM usage of IconServicesAgent. I have been running Mavericks for several months, and still IconServicesAgent consumes over 300 MB of RAM pretty much all the time, even without any apps running and without any startup items. So, I have two questions: 1) Is it normal for IconServicesAgent to always use so much RAM? and 2) If it is normal, is there any way I can tweak my system to reduce IconServicesAgent's RAM footprint?

Below I include my EtreCheck report:

A small correction: "without any startup items" should read "without any login items" --- in others words, when I go to System Preferences/Users & Groups/Login Items, the list appears blank. (I have disabled autostart of apps like Dropbox, hoping this might lead to lower RAM usage by IconServicesAgent, but no such luck so far.)

One other follow-up: I tried restarting in Safe Mode, and in that case IconServicesAgent appeared to consume about 270 MB of RAM --- a bit less, but still, it seems to me, rather high. Any insights appreciated.

Update: I am pleased to report that the issue seems, for the moment, to have resolved itself. The RAM usage of IconServicesAgent has finally decreased, and by a lot. It now hovers at about 58 MB. Unfortunately I am not sure exactly what caused it to finally drop. In an effort to clean things up in general, I am been uninstalling apps, making more space on my hard drive, cleaning off the desktop, etc, so maybe some combination of these things is what helped. (The idea of cleaning off the desktop is something I had encountered in another thread and which I had tried before posting here. It had no immediate impact on IconServicesAgent's RAM usage, but I guess it's conceivable that the impact was delayed by a few days, as the agent processed the changes. But the fact is that the drop in RAM seems to have occurred quite dramatically within the past day.) Anyway, I'll keep this open for a few more days and post back here if I manage to pinpoint what the issue was.
