Why is it so difficult to open control center

Why is it so difficult to open control center? I swipe up from the bottom of my iphone from any app, but it takes several aggressive swipes for it to respond. The updates (swiping from top to bottom) is instant and have no troubles with it. The only place the control center works perfect is on the lock screen, then its an issue of turning off my phone, turning back on, then swiping just to get to it. I think it was the latest update, havent had this much trouble before.
