iPod Shuffle - I cannot receive information about the battery status when I press the VoiceOver button twice. The manual says that the VoiceOver will give the status , e.g. 75% full, 25%, empty. The VoiceOver works perfectly otherwise giving details of songs, artists, and playlists.

Maybe you can try changing the interval between presses. The second press may be too late. Try it like you are double-clicking a mouse button.

Thank you - this worked! I'd tried several times but the voiceover just stuttered the details of the current song. I had already tried different intervals but obviously wasn't quick enough.
