Delete "Other" space

Hello all!

I have had my iPhone 4S for exactly a month now, and it is filling up with other space. Currently it has 1.8 GB of Other space, which is quite a bit for my 6 GB capacity phone. I have been searching the web for various solutions, and have tried a bunch of things to no avail: restarting, deleting all of the music, deleting messages, Safari information, taking off Mail accounts, you name it.

I have been hesitant to try factory resetting it yet, however, since I really wouldn't want to waste so much time in customizing my phone and changing the settings again. Does anyone know if a reset from previous backup will help? Or will that just bring the Other space back in?

Any other tips? I am losing hope.

Thanks!

iPhone 4s (8GB), iOS 7.1
