I gifted my son a book that he needed for an English class tonight and it's not downloading on his device (iPad, computer). Shouldn't a book download immediately?

He's received the email to the email account that you sent it to, and he's redeemed the gift from that email ? If he has and the book isn't downloading into the iBooks app then does it show in the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the iBooks app for downloading ?
King_Penguin He never received an e-mail that I had gifted the book to him.
He should have received an email to the account that you sent the gift to, with redemtpion info about the gift (he's checked the spam folder on that account as well as the inbox ?).
