I've tried opening straight into other apps and just get error messages, and I the mail preview there is just a grey screen telling me the file name and size. It worked fine until I did the IOS upgrade

Identical issue is happening to me! I just updated my IOS to 7.1 and now I can't open Microsoft word attachments either, nor do they open in Pages. Worked yesterday, updated the iOS overnight and now is broken! I get the same mail preview issues with just a grey screen telling me the file name and size. It worked fine until I did the IOS upgrade!?! I tried restarting and resetting settings, but neither work! Is there a rollback option!?! Aargh!?! HELP ME!!!

Interestingly, I think I stumbled on a workaround.

For one of the emails with an attached PDF that I have been having trouble with, if I tap on the PDF icon to download it, and then tap on it to open it, I get the error (black or white screen).

But, with this same email, if I first tap on the "Download Full Message" link at the bottom of the email, the PDF will then open correctly when I tap on the PDF icon.

I confirmed that this works on two different iOS 7.1 devices.
