Final Cut Pro X. Is this a sample rate problem? HELP!

I am making a Documentary for my College Degree in Final Cut Pro X (I am quite new to this program). I have video plus lots of audio recordings, 75 all together(tie-clip microphone recordings, voice-over, music which was sorted out within Logic Pro 9, I don't use Logic X). I've spent A LONG TIME syncing these audio files in the timeline.

I CANNOT get the audio in sync after export. After tearing my hair out! I noticed the sample rate of ALL the audio is 44,100 and the Final Cut Project is 48,000. Am I going to have to export ALL those 75 audio clips out of Logic 9 again but this time at 48,000?

If I import the audio as 48,000 BUT use the same file names, will Final Cut Pro X reference those so the timeline remains intact (therefore cutting down potentially a MASSIVE workload?)

This Assignment has to be handed in in three weeks???

We don't know how you synced. (I'm guessing manually from your statement about syncing in the timeline. If, you did, I agree with Luis…no reason why 44.1 shouldn't export correctly.

You could always try selecting the project in the browser, and in the Inspector>Info, choose Modify Settings to change Sample Rate to 44.1 – just to test whether that's a problem or not.

Update: I dragged ALL of the audio files from my FCPX original media folder, onto a Logic Pro 9 Project with audio settings at 48,000 to make sure I then had new audio files at the correct sample rate.

I copied these over the original ones in FCPX and exported as .H264.

AND STILL THE INTERVIEW AUDIO IS OUT OF SYNC!!!

Yes, all the audio clips are manually lined up with the video which is the main storyline. I watch it on FCPX and they are all bang on! I watch the exported one and they are out of sync?

I am VERY new to this program. I'm a Music Production Degree Student and it was my decision to make a Documentary. So it's a bit out of my comfort zone.

I notice I can select the small video clip AND the audio; then select 'new compound clip'. Will that 'glue the audio to the video'? So it's sync'ed up after export?

All the other export types seem to produce over 60Fb files or even 100Gb+ files???

6.45Gb for .H264. The Documentary is going onto 8Gb usb sticks.

Oh, it's a 48 minute Documentary.

All help greatly appreciated and thanks to those so far.

If the video is on the primary storyline, the project settings may have been determined automatically – or you may have create a custom project, Which way was it done?

What is the video format? And what is the audio?

This documentary is made up of interviews I have cut into video clips between about 30 seconds to 90 seconds approx.Audio files all came from a tie clip microphone that I NOW have as audio files with 48,000 sample rate.

I have manually dragged them into position under the video clips which are on that main storyline.

The interview clips on the exported .H264 file have audio about 1/2 a second-ish ahead of the video?????

I used new compound clip on the first 12 minutes of the Documentary to see if that would help. It didn't! So i did 'break apart clip items' and the audio files are all out of effing sync now!!!!!

Just relining them up. Got a suggestion on another forum to export as a ProRess 422 master file and check if it is in sync then. Which i intend to try when Ive lined these audio clips back again!!!

Russ, Video was recorded on one of those:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-Camcorder-Recording-Intelligent-Recognition/dp /B0031RG4HM

and put on the main story line.

The audio is from a tie-clip microphone that I imported into Logic Pro 9 and saved as named audio files (for my own reference in FCPX) at 48,000Hz sample rate.

I syncd all audio by just dragging them 'underneath' the main story line (I dont even know if this is the right way to do it, I'm new to FCPX).

I have checked in the library view of FCPX and ALL audio is now 48,000, but still these interview clips have audio slightly ahead of the video?????
