Q: I got this email and I was wondering if it was legitimate?

I can't promise you that it is legitimate, but a bit of research suggests that it well may be. The domain of the site given is run by Rust Consulting, Inc. who apparently act as agents in this sort of case. These websites turned up in the research:

At least it's not the usual scam, which is trying to get your logins and bank details - indeed if it is a scam it's a very complicated one. Approach with caution; I should try phoning rather than emailing them. And whatever, don't give anyone your logins or bank details.

I just redeemed 73 cents :) i wrote down the code in the email and tried it as a redeem code in the itunes store.

It is legitimate. I put in the code like I was redeeming a gift card and was credited $6.34.

I received it too but a few thigns did not line up (the e-mail it came from, the web address of some of the links, etc). I sent a message to the settlement administrator to see if it is real.

Seems to be legit.  Still wouldn't click on any links in an unknown email.  Just copy the code into your iTunes redeem and see what you get.  I got $2.19...nice little surprise gift of a couple songs.  I'm sure the lawyers made out a lot better than we did.

Definitely works.  I just did it (after looking here to see what others experienced) and got $22.60 in  iTunes credit.  Do as other suggest though:  copy the activation code and paste it.

I copied the code and got $7.07 back. :-) I'll buy a new book! Lol

I read this thread before attempting to redeem mine.  The code I got worked, and I got a $3.90 credit.  However, that email did throw up a bunch of red flags for me.  If you hover over the links, such as the link to the Apple KB article, the actual URL you're going to is something completely different.  I went ahead and clicked it anyway and it was blocked by our corporate firewall as being a "High Risk" site.  The actual site it is going to is qgemail.com, which I suppose may be a legitimate service for sending bulk email, and that would explain the fishy looking urls...part of there click tracking mechanism, but if I were working for the lawfirm in charge of distributing these, I'd work on making these less suspicious looking.

$0.73 redeemed!  I will put it with the other money I am saving for our European vacation.

Acting on the advice of others in this thread, I did not click on any link in the email.  I simply copied the code and pasted it into the Redemption locale at the iTunes store.

This is legitimate.  I got my refund.  You'll get something like.

You've successfully redeemed your code.  Your Apple ID has been credited with $##.##.  Your balance is $##.##.

$.73  woo hoo!  It may be a small victory - but's it a victory

Different settlement ID Number:  AP03141345 but legit. $.73 here too.
