You would need to use the optical out on your tv or purchase an audio extractor
I have the same problem and I have the latest Apple TV 4K. There is only a power port an a HDMI port. This makes things simple if your stock TV has great stereo sound, but most do not, which is why I would love to connect this to my Bose system and do not see a solution before me. Anyone else know????
So what is it you ask? I use my Apple TV in combination with a Bose 1-2-3 system. I have two ways to play sound to the Bose.
1) through the optical audio cable directly connected between the AppleTV and the Bose. Works perfectly to play music over AppleTV to the Bose without the need of a TV set.
2) through audio-out of my TV to the Bose for playing videos over the AppleTV and sound is in sync with the video.
Bose systems typically include an optical audio port, which would be your best bet. You can pick up an optical audio cable for between 15 - 20 dollars (US). It will provide excellant audio for both music and to accompany video programming.
