MPC2000XL not recognized as a device.

I have a MIDI to USB cable running from my MPC2000XL into a USB port on my MacBook Pro. I also have an MPC LPK25 Keyboard Controller connected. The keyboard is newer technology and shows up as a device immediately upon connection and triggers any and all sounds flawlessly. When I connect the MPC2000XL, there is no indication that I have connected another device and it does nothing.

I've tried a lot of different things from many different forums and tutorials, but I still can't get this MacBook or Logic Pro 9 to recognize my MPC2000XL as a device.

How do I route the signal from my MPC into my MacBook? Is there a driver, or a certain MIDI setting in the MacBook!

HELP!

Okay. I just realized that this little cable is an interface and it's name is "mio", which I did see in Logic when I was trying to figure this all out.

OK, so you got the iConnectivity one. It doesn't require you install a driver.

If you go to Applications/Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup...and from the Window menu choose "Show MIDI Window", you should see an icon representing the mio, and it should be active (not dimmed).

If it it active then probably teverything's OK with it and the problem is something else...for example: Have you connected the connector labeled "In" to one of the MPC's MIDI Outputs...and the one labeled "Out" to one of the MIDI Inputs on the MPC?

OK, first put that tutorial aside for the moment and start simple, from scratch:

Connect the mio's "In" cable to the MPC's MIDI Out port A.

On your MPC, set the track type to MIDI, like in this image (you can leave what comes after "MIDI" to the default.):

User uploaded file

Create a new project and load a software instrument on a software instrument track.

Hit the pads, that should trigger your software instrument.
