May be it is Spotlight indexing that is slowing down the computer.

This happens when you install a new OS X.

    Let it finish.

So, more or less, there is nothing to do?

    Thank you....

    You can immediately Uninstall MacKeeper

and hope it hasn't already damaged your system.

I second petermac87's advice. Start there, and see if there is an improvement. For more information on what Mackeeper really is and  how it affects your system:

Do not install MacKeeper: Apple Support Communities

Additionally, uninstall Google's unnecessary auto-updater which is known to hog CPU resources:

    download the Google Update Uninstaller

I should also mention you will see an improvement if you clear out some HDD space. You have roughly 20% free right now, which isn't ideal. Start by emptying your trash, and moving any large media files or archivable files ot an external drive.

    Thank you, petermac87 and nbar.

I was able to uninstall the Google Auto-Updater successfully.

Am having a little trouble uninstalling the MacKeeper, but will work on it a bit more.

Also will clear out some HDD space.  What is the ideal amount to have free?  50%?

    Thank you again!

    Hi.

My iMac has become terrible slow after updating to OS 10.9.2

I have tried to switch off and unplug. I have tried to reset RAM. I have even bought the Mackeeper to have it work on my drive, but all in vain. Please help....How can I reverse from 10.9.2 to 10.9.1?
