How do I delete songs from an iPhone 4S running IOS 7.1?

It depends ...


If you auto-sync to iTunes, change your sync preferences to not sync these songs.


If you manually manage music on your iPhone, either swipe your finger from right to left across the song name and tap Delete, or connect to iTunes to explore the contents of your iPhone and delete the song(s) that way.


If these songs have a cloud next to them, that means these are purchases that you don't have installed. If you don't want to see these, go to Settings/Music/Show All Music/OFF.


If you use iTunes Match, well sorry can't help you there.
