Clicking noise when opening screen...left hindge...

For some reason, all the sudden my macbook started making a clicking noise on the left hidge of the screen everytime I open it. I looked closely and discovered that the space between the bottom portion of the macbook and the screen (when closed) is bigger on the right side then on the left side. The left side is almost flush with the bottom portion but the right side has some extra space, which is needed so the plastic doesnt rub together and create this clicking noise.

What I dont understand is how the heck this happened...I was just sitting there on my mac book, opened and closed it and now the screen has a smaller space on the left side.

Has anyone else had this problem? I think its worth taking it to an apple store to get repaired but I'm starting school very soon and need it. Any ideas?

I have also had this problem or at least something very similar ... it started a few weeks ago and was quite a pronounced cracking noise next to the left side of the hinge when I opened or closed the MacBook.

The screen surround looks like it is glued on (or double sided tape?) and on the left hand side at the bottom of the screen there appears to be a void behind the surround next to the hinge which means that the screen surround flexes ... however in the same place on the lower right hand corner of the screen it is rock solid.

I too have been toying with taking the MacBook in for repair but I fear that it might actually make it worse because they will have to peel the surround off and may never get it to go back on right !!

I have the same exact problem except minus the clicking sound. I have no idea what happened because I have been completely gentle with this comp. I am also going off to school and dont have a lot of time to send it back in. So if anyone figures this out tell me pleaaaase. My left side is also not flush with the body so i dont know if i could just screw it in tighter or if its more techinical than this. Please tell me if you guys figure it out!

mine came like that with the face on the lower left not glued or whatever properly. I knew to check because i saw a video on youtube. However since this is a replacement for a DOA MB and it works great i'm not going to complain about it. I'm just gonna hope it doens't get any worse. Maybe try and see if you can get some injectible epoxy and try to put just a small dab in there and see if it holds.

So I took my macbook to the apple store which unfortunantly is 45 minutes away from my house. I showed an apple genius my problem and he said that he didnt know how my problem occured but he thinks it can be fixed by sending the laptop in and having them re-adjust the bezel. He told me just by looking at it, he couldnt really tell me if it was easy to fix. He also offered to send it in for me and see what they could do but I need it next week for school so I couldnt do that. Apparently the apple store in san fran where I'm moving to for school next week is bigger and they have more staff so they can proabably just fix it in the store rather then send it in.

To make a long story short I was pretty angry since thats all I got from them after my long drive down there and my 25 minute wait once I put my name in.

But anyways, I personally think since the cpu chip is on the top lefthand corner of the mac book (i think), that the extreme heat that this corner of the laptop produces warped the corner of the screen . I'm not really sure if thats the answer but it makes sense to me considering the right hand side of the laptop is not nearly as hot as the left side and the right side is not afected. It could have just heat warped it causing it to not line up properly while closed.

If anyone finds out anymore answers to this problem please let me know...

Thanks!

Here is some photos of the problem I am having..I took the best pictures I could of the left and right side of the screen so you can compare the two and see that the left is not normal while the right side is.

These pictures show how the space in between the bottom of the screen and the main part of the computer is smaller on the left side then the right causing the cliking noise when the plastic rubs on that side.

my MB is exactly the same, with the right side having more space. but i never have the clicking sound when opening or closing the lid.
bout the scren cover thingy, ive seen the mad kid's video clip on youtube as well, and part of my MB's screen cover is lose too, but not the left side, rather its on the bottom right towards the center, and as long as the whole cover remains intact, im not bothered to send it in.
