HT202360: OS X Server: Enabling and disabling email auto-forwarding

Q: Is it possible to forward an email account AND keep mail locally as well?

I'm currently hosting several dozen websites on OS X 10.8 running Server.app and OS X 10.9 also running Server.app (two separate Mac Minis).

What I'm trying to do should be relatively easy, but it isn't unfortunately. Is it possible to setup auto-forwarding of a user's email account while at the same time allowing them to keep a copy of all messages locally (as in their inbox)? In other words, I just want to setup forwarding an an added feature, and not have it remove the inbox which is the default behavior in both Mountain Lion and Mavericks server.

I haven't found a way to do this using Server.app, it's either all or nothing it seems.

Mac mini (Late 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

    Hello,

I think you are right with server app.  But if you install RoundCube :

    https://topicdesk.com/downloads/tools/roundcube-for-os-x-server/

which is an open source product which used to be bundled with macosX server (  TopicDesk offer a free installer which works perfectly )

then you can add a filter (called sieve )  which will send a copy of the email and keep it if you want.

I have no affiliation with topicdesk.

Hope this helps someone even though I'm late with the answer.

It's probably not going to help you but a lot of Mac sites use Kerio Connect rather than Apple's own mail server. Kerio Connect does as standard have the option of turning on forwarding of a users email and choosing whether you want a copy to also be delivered to the original users inbox as well. We use this all the time e.g. when people are on holiday.

Yes there are various on-leave options as well.
