Hello, I recently backed up and tried to restore my IPod touch 5th generation. It started to restore, but then said there was an error. Now, I know I need to update itunes, but if I download the updated version, will I lose my backup?

No your backups arent moved, edited, or deleted when updating, uninstalling, or installing itunes. They are kept in a seperate file. If you want to make a copy of them for safe keeping here's the folder location.
