Q: Find my iPhone says my phone is offline

I used my apple ID to log on to iCloud on my iPhone and I switched Find my IPhone on. But when I try to find my phone using "Find my IPhone" from icloud.com it says that all the devices are offline (including my phone)

Please help me.

Is it connected to the internet? If it is, try turning Find My iPhone off and then back on again on your device.

Sometimes it takes a bit longer for it to find my iPhone than it does my Mac or my iPad...I don't really know why. But if your device is connected to the internet, it should find it.

If you don't have Wifi turned on, turn that on, if you have it available. If you do not have it available, open Safari via your 3G connection and see if it shows up then (give it 20-30 seconds to find it).

    Cheers,

I think I may found out what the problem is.

"No location available," "Offline," or "Location Services Off" alerts

    This can occur if:

    • The date on your device is incorrect. Choose Settings > General > Date & Time to check and set the date.
    • Your iOS device is currently off or not connected to a data network (Edge, 3 or 4G, or Wi-Fi). Wait a few minutes and try again.
    • Your iPad (Wi-Fi only), iPod Touch, or Mac is currently off or not connected to a Wi-Fi network.
    • Location Services is not enabled on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch (Settings > Privacy) or on your Mac (Date & Time) preferences. Learn more about Location Services on your Mac:
    • You are located in a country where Apple does not offer this feature. This feature may not be available in all countries due to technical limitations or local law.

All the points above are ok except the last one. I'm not sure Apple offers this feature in my country. To be sure, I need to find the list of countries.

    Hi MihaiTst,

This was the only Country Restriction information that I could find for Find My iPhone:

For legal reasons, customers in the Republic of Korea will not be able to locate their device. All other Find My iPhone features will be available: display a message, play a sound, lock, and erase.

If you're traveling to other countries, it is recommended that you enable Data Roaming, in case you lose or misplace your device and need to locate it.

    1. Do one of the following:
      • Go to Settings > Cellular (iOS 7 or later).
      • Go to Settings > General > Cellular (iOS 6).
    2. Turn on Data Roaming.

If Data Roaming is off, your iPhone or iPad Wi-Fi + 3G or 4G will only be reachable when it is connected to a Wi-Fi network (like an iPad Wi-Fi or iPod touch).

Note: Turning Data Roaming on can substantially increase your service provider costs. Contact your carrier for more information.

Locating your device on a map requires Maps data to be available  in that area. All other Find My iPhone features will  still work: Play a Sound, Lock or Lost Mode (which also displays a message),  and Erase. Lost Mode includes a feature that tracks your device over time based on its map location. This feature requires access to Maps data. If Maps data is unavailable, activating Lost Mode will simply lock your device, and give you the option to send a message to it.

    Best of luck,

Ok, I don't know if this is the whole list, but I'm not living in the Republic of Korea or nowhere close.

Data Roaming is enabled from my cell provider and turned on.

Maps are available for this area.

All I need now is someone to enlighten me why it doesn't work.

Edit: You beat me to it, found the same thing myself. Thank you for your time, but I'm still stuck.

Did you try turning Find My iPhone off and then back on again on your device?

Also, try resetting your device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen comes back up, and your Wifi or Cellular connection is showing again, see if it will show up.

How about the computer where you are going to the iCloud.com website? Is it online? Have you tried rebooting it?

And just to make sure, you ARE going to iCloud.com on a computer, right?

One last option is to open the Find My iPhone app on your device (if you don't have it, you can download it for free from the App Store), sign on, and see if you see any difference in the statuses via that route.

    Cheers,

I don't think rebooting my PC will help.

I did a reset on my iPhone though, turned Find my iPhone off and on.

Yes, I'm going to the iCloud.com website on my PC.

The current version of Find My iPhone app from AppStore requires iOS 7 and I have iOS 5.1.1

    Edit:

I don't like iOS 7 and I don't want to update my phone's iOS just so I can try an app. On "Find my Phone"'s support (from iCloud, not the app) it say that I need iOS 5 or later, so it should work.

    Important update on the issue:

I noticed the wierdest thing. When I hit Find my iPhone on the iCloud website and it tries to locate my phone, I see my phone's battery icon on the right top corner, and it displays the real status (42%) when I hover the mouse over it. After the "locating" operation, the status of the device just goes to offline and the battery dissapears.

I would also like to state that the device doesn't have a previous "last location" on the map, so I believe it doesn't go online and offline or if it does, it doesn't pull the location of my phone.

    Hello

I had the same problem as you. What I did was remove my Iphone from the list and turned "Find my Iphone"off and turned it on again and voila.

If you have resolved this problem already maybe it will help someone else.

I fixed mine by going to settings/privacy/location services/ then right down the bottom I clicked

on 'Find my iPhone'. The tab was off. I swiped it to green on and it worked fine.

I know the topic is really old. However, some new people may read this. I had same problem and I just hit the settings>icloud from my phone. Then find the app `find my phone` and turn it on. (Make the button green) .It perfectly worked for me. Good luck.
