Why my Mac Book with OsX 10.9.2 connected with my Air Port Extreme A 1408 , but Airport Utilities cannot confute my Airport Extreme. Although can connect internet?

I had Airport Utilities in my Mac Book 2009 with OsX 10.9.2 , I can online with My Airport Extreme A 1408 via Wifi. But Airport Utilities cannot configure Airport Base Station. And I don't see the update . I used my Ipad Air to update newest firmware my Airport Extreme . It's done. From Ipad I can see the informations as following : IP Adress , Lan IP Adress 10.0.1.1 , version 7.6.4.....,...Model Airport Extreme 802.11n (5th Generation) ....in full details. But not in my Mac Book. Please Help. Thanks.
