how do i open .xlsx files on my mac?

I am trying to open a spreadsheet that is saved as an xlsx file and I cant open it. Please can someone help me

cbs20 is right. Open Office will do this for you at no cost. Download and install from here:

Purchase Microsoft Office for Mac or Numbers (Apple App available in App Store). Look into free options such as OpenOffice or LibreOffice. I'm not sure if those programs handle excel files, but I know they can handle word files.
