I try to change Kind to Word (right click- get info etc).
does not work. It is not possible to open this doc with pages or Open Office as long it is Pages document
Are you saying that this file could not be opened before you started altering the file extension?
If so what message did you get trying to open it?
Did you open it from inside Pages?

No. Originally created in Word then opened in Pages - now is not possible to change the Kind.
It worked fine in Word.

Did you try to open it from inside Pages 5 using the Open dialogue?
We can't see what you see, you have to tell us.

It should suffice to right click on the file and select Open With.... Word
But it will not open with anything, neither Word or Pages.
Word can not open a Pages file.
Please answer the questions:
What version of Pages?
What message do you get?
I am only asking you to open it from inside Pages so you can be sure which version you are using. Which you keep not telling me.

It sound as it is a very corrupted file. Word can't open Pages files. Has to be exported to word first.
Don't you have the original Word file still?

I have other pages files that did open - what should I do to revert to Word ?
The original Word file has been edited in Pages and so that file is of no interest to me.
Then it does sound like it is permanently damaged.

I am not using Pages any more. It is crap.
Other people have experienced the same problem with Pages 5.1
