Can I play The Sims 3 on Macbook Pro?

I have the newest Pro version w/ Retina (15in). Ive always wanted to play The Sims. But I've read that playing games make your fans go like crazy and heats up the Mac.

So, is there a way I can PREVENT that from happening? Do those fans work to keep your mac cool? If so, which do you recommend? I really want to play The Sims but I dont want my Mac to mess up. I do use it for school.

Thanks.

Mik3OH,

if the fans go like crazy, it’s because of the heat that results from running compute-intensive software. The fans activate to expel the heat from within your MacBook Pro, so that your electronic components don’t get cooked. If you want to run demanding software, then you absolutely do not want to prevent your fans from running — unless frying your MacBook Pro is your goal. You’ll also want to make sure that when you run such software, that nothing blocks the airflow into and out of the MacBook Pro — so play such games with your MacBook Pro on a hard flat surface, rather than on a soft cushioned surface.

I just bought the MacBook Pro 2.2GHZ. It does not have a DVD ROM drive. Is the downloadable version of Sims (which I can only find the Sims3 Starter Pack as a downloadable version for Mac) a good one? Or should I purchase the USB External Hard drive so that I can purchase a Sims DVD Game for Mac? Or are there any other suggestions to playing a Sims game on MacBook Pro that does not come with the ROM drive? Thanks 🙂
