screen freezes when attaching pictures iphoto

Trying to attach pictures to various websites (as I am a realtor) and for some reason when I go to select to attach a pic on my iphoto, I either can't attach them, or nothing happens and screen freezes and computer needs to be manually shut down and started up again. Not sure why.
