Upgrade from OS 10.6 to 10.8

I am running OS 10.6.8 on a 2009 2.66 mac pro quad.

I am wondering if I can upgrade directly to OS 10.8 or do I have to go through the steps as in install 10.7 then install 10.8

Doe's anybody know if this is possible and problem free??

ok cool thanks for your input. I'll order a 10.8 install disk from the mac store.

There are no disks to order, 10.8 comes as a download.

You can order it here.

I'm kinda scared to go to 10.9 just yet. I heard it's not good to install a new OS. I heard its better to wait a little bit so they can get the bugs out.

Mavericks is now at release 2, release 3 is close. Mavericks is faster, more stable and more efficient than Mountain Lion, I can't imagine why you would pay for a lesser system when you could have the latest for free.?
