Mar 26, 2014 8:47 PM in response to SDevenshireby Kappy,They are the same. Use Boot Camp Assistant to create the partition. There is no difference between disk partitions for Win 7 and Win 8. No workaround is needed.

Mar 27, 2014 6:26 AM in response to SDevenshireby turbostar,You want to install Windows 7? Can't be done, you could manually try but you still won't find all the necessary drivers to get everything to work correctly.

Mar 27, 2014 8:25 AM in response to SDevenshireby The hatter,Not just 8 but 8.1.
And 8.1 does normally work with and add an entry in the EFI partition that both Mac OS and Windows use.

w7 will not work (unless someone comes up with a hack and finds all drivers)
w8 and 8.1 will work just fine

Mar 27, 2014 12:37 PM in response to turbostarby SDevenshire,Hi Turbostar,
First post says W7 is not a problem, third post says 8.1 but not 8 will work. Last post says both 8 and 8.1. Sounds somewhat contradictory to me, but that's just me.
Nevertheless there appear to be some possible leads which I will check out.
One of the deals is 8/8.1 are touch screen oriented and as of the present time I don't have a touch screen and I'm not sure I have a need for it. Also, it doesn't appear that Apple does yet either. My real needs lie in programs that run under Windows but not the MacOS so I need both systems.
Thanks to everyone!

Mar 27, 2014 12:58 PM in response to SDevenshireby The hatter,8.1 is not only for touch, Metro is there and so is touch for those that have it and want it.
Overall it is to me, having used Vista then 7, just as big and important an upgrade (been using 8 since the first Dev Preview a year before release).
Some run Windows as a VM and runs quite well too.
you really should be

Apple has not yet even updated the pdf manual (found in Boot Camp Assistant) for Mavericks
http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.8.pdf
And BCA is where you download and get your most current drivers and support.
