Adding a Windows partition

Hi Folks,

I understand that the official position is that the new Mac Pro only supports Windows 8 partitions, not Windows 7. Does anyone know if there are work arounds for this?

Any thoughts would be welcomed.

Thanks,

Shane

Hi Turbostar,

First post says W7 is not a problem, third post says 8.1 but not 8 will work. Last post says both 8 and 8.1. Sounds somewhat contradictory to me, but that's just me.

Nevertheless there appear to be some possible leads which I will check out.

One of the deals is 8/8.1 are touch screen oriented and as of the present time I don't have a touch screen and I'm not sure I have a need for it. Also, it doesn't appear that Apple does yet either. My real needs lie in programs that run under Windows but not the MacOS so I need both systems.

Thanks to everyone!

8.1 is not only for touch, Metro is there and so is touch for those that have it and want it.

Overall it is to me, having used Vista then 7, just as big and important an upgrade (been using 8 since the first Dev Preview a year before release).

Some run Windows as a VM and runs quite well too.

you really should be

Apple has not yet even updated the pdf manual (found in Boot Camp Assistant) for Mavericks

And BCA is where you download and get your most current drivers and support.
