Did you try and download just the update file to 10.9.2 Mavericks, or the full installer package?

If it was the updater it is not applicable to your version of OSX (Lion is 10.7.x).

Not to be dense, but I'm unable to.find the full installer package in the app store. Do you have a link? Thanks.

To clarify, you only need the 10.9.2 update if you are running OS X 10.9.0 or 10.9.1. If you are running 10.7.x Lion you don't need the update. However, if you want to UPGRADE your OS to the latest OS, the full 10.9.2 Mavericks installer is available as a free upgrade from the Mac App Store.

If you do decide to upgrade - and assuming your Mac meets the tech specs for Mavericks - ensure you have full and tested backup you can restore from if for any reason you need to revert to Lion. It would also be worth checking that any apps you rely on in your workflow are compatible with Mavericks. Also, if you have less than 4gb of RAM Mavericks will be a slow performer.
