GF 7300GT / KDS XF-9Bi CRT = Blank Screen?
This one had me stumped. Machine came in today (two days early - a pleasant surprise). Hooked up my existing CRT - a KDS XF-9Bi 19" display. Got the grey apple screen with the spinning logo, then the screen turned blue for a second and faded to black. Replaced the VGA cable to no avail. Tried restarting several times, swapping primary/secondary ports on card, etc. Finally grabbed a Samsung LCD display from my wife's machine, and...it worked fine.
This was a bit of a surprise to me.
I'm assuming that the system is trying to determine monitor timings via DDC and either mis-interpreting the results or not getting a response; in either case, it seems to be giving up rather than falling back to sensible defaults.
Two issues here: First, the display shouldn't have blanked out; this, IMHO, is a major failure - an unusable system on initial startup.
Second, and more importantly: Any idea how I can make this CRT work on this machine? Is there any way to override or update monitor timings in OSX (along the lines of *nix X modelines... ??)
Any suggestions would be welcome.
