Q: I'm getting a new iPhone delivered to replace my one with a broken screen. how do I ensure that I don't lose all my contacts?

I'm getting a new iphone delivered to replace my iphone 4s which has a broken screen. Apparently the courier has to take my phone as its on insurance. How do I ensure that I don't lose all my contacts?

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.1

I use iCloud to back up all my iPhone contacts. Some iPhone users prefer to back up on their computers which actually does a complete back up of your iPhone.

On iTunes, back up your old iPhone (to iCloud and your computer), before your new phone arrives.  Then when you set up your new phone, choose the option to restore it from your last backup.  That way, your new phone should look exactly like your old one - apart from the broken screen of course.

NB - sometimes I find that iTunes won't do a back up to iCloud, so the other option is to do a backup to iCloud using your phone itself by Settings>iCloud>Storage & Back Up>Back Up Now.
