I didn't know it was stolen! It could be lost! I do not ask for that reward, but just for the $ I spent. If I don't buy there, where would the phone be now!? How can it get back to the owner!?
The legal owner of the iPhone is not obligated legally nor morally to refund your money. You knowingly paid for an iPhone you knew at the time of purchase did not belong to the person from whom you bought it, so at that time you assumed all risks, including the risk of being the one accused of being the thief. As the other poster said, you should have notified the owner and the police rather than buying the iPhone. Whether you have any legal right to a promised reward will depend on the laws in your country, but in most cases a promise of a reward is not considered to be legally binding. Perhaps if you'd approached the owner differently she would have been willing to give you the reward and hence gotten you at least part of your money back.
Just return the iPhone to its rightful owner without asking for money, or give it to the police. Then drop the issue, and accept your monetary loss. All you may accomplish at this point if you persist will be to get yourself charged with theft.
Regards.
