FireWire GUID 0000000000000000 is invalid!

Question

This message repeats every 5 seconds in console.  I don&#x27;t have any firewire devices.  My searches turned up many  postes about this message but, no solutions.  I have reset SMC, PRAM and reinstalled OSX. There appears to be a FireWire interface in the inXtron AKiTiO Thunder Dock if you unplug that do the messages stop?

No.  The only correlation I have found is that the messages start when it comes out of sleep.

I am just guessing, I don&#x27;t know anything about OS X internals but with a reboot and the dock disconnected from the computer, then after sleep do you get the messages?

The Thunder Dock seems to not make a difference.  I opened a Ticket with Akitio (maker of Thunder Dock) and asked the question.

Yes I was looking on their web site to see if anything turned up. I only suggested that because it will have a Firewire controller inside it.You may get more informative answers later today on this forum, hope so.regards

I received this from Akitio/Thunder Dock Support"Thank you for your feedback. We are aware of this problem and yes, it happens when the system comes out of sleep mode and the Thunder Dock is connected to your system. It does not affect the functionality of the product but it does tend to fill up the console with error messages.Unfortunately, we cannot fix this with a simple firmware or driver update and you would have to return the product to us, so that we can replace it.Thanks for your help

Glad you got to the source of the messages, I presume it is a batch of FireWire controllers they are having problems with hence the inability for either a software or firmware fix.
