Sinking a "new" used iPhone with iTunes?

I just got a friend's iPhone that I am not using and trying to sync with iTunes. iTunes keeps telling me I have to "authorize this computer" but when I do into Store >Authorize, it tells me this computer is already authorized. I've uninstalled and re-installed iTunes but no luck. Any idea what else to do?

iPhone 4, iOS 7.1

It's probably trying to authorize for apps or content on the iPhone that was purchased under your friend's iTunes Store account. You can't use those items, so you will need to erase them from the iPhone. I'd suggest just going into the Settings -> General -> Reset and choose the "Erase all content and settings" option. That will remove everything from the iPhone so you can set it up afresh.

Regards.
