Q: Can't export to Quicktime from FCE, only audio, no video comes through

I see other queries on forums about this problem, but no clear answers. Audio comes throiugh, but not video.  QT 10.0, FCE 4.0.1 (Mac OS X 10.4.11).  Need to export to .mov file to make DVD.  Some say QT just doesn't work with HDV film.  Is there some additional software I should get?  I would appreciate any help.  (Otherwise I will just kill myself, having spent months making this film.)

    QT 10.0, FCE 4.0.1 (Mac OS X 10.4.11).

     

    Something is wrong if you have that combination. QT X (what you called QT 10.0) only works on Snow Leopard (10.6.x) and later.  On 10.4.11 you should have QuickTime 7.2 to 7.6.4, not later versions..

     

    QuickTime & FCE works perfectly well with HDV video (actually, Apple Intermediate Codec in the FCE world).

     

    In FCE, what Easy Setup did you use for your project (aka what are your Sequence settings, especially frame size & compressor).   Are you exporting to QuickTime Movie or to QuickTime Conversion?

     

    If you are exporting for the purpose of burning a DVD, you need to export to QuickTime Movie.  Be sure to verify that the option to Include Audio and Video is selected.
