Q: since update to 10.9.2, scan to email on Brother DCP 7040 has lost connectivity with mozilla thunderbird. Have talked to Brother about problem to no avail, and apple. using usb cable from scanner/printer and still the same. any ideas? I can scan to file.

Since update to 10.9.2 I have had difficulty using a Brother DCP multifunction printer, Sscanner, copier to scan to email (Mozilla Thundrbird). It goes directly to Apple mail which I have expericed issues send to pcs. ihave everything correct with scanner, however the automation from scan to email feature is not recognized, it goes straight to apple mail. When i go to apple mail and try to pull down the the options it does not have thunderbird listed. Please advise a solution.

    Open Mail > Preferences > General and choose Thunderbird as the default email client. If Thunderbird does not appear as an option choose Other... and then navigate to Thunderbird in the window that will appear.

     

    You can fix the problem using Apple Mail with Windows recipients by going to Mail > Edit > Attachments and selecting "always send Windows-Freindly attachments".
