Audio Import - missing slice of audio after the start of the file

Logic X - I drag and drop or import through the dialogue window and the resulting file starts fine then immediately drops a bunch of frames. Its like the CD has skipped just for a second, then the remaining file is perfect. It seems to be happening with all file formats also. it looks like so...

Help!

I've only seen reports about this happening with compressed files so far (mp3's, etc).
