This issue is common with Iphone 4s and is down to one of two things, depending on who you are.

1) If you work for Apple it is hardware

That means they are only responsible for replacing or repairing phones that are within warranty etc.

2) If you are a customer it is software

This issue only started happening for thousands upon thousands upon thousands of customers when they upgraded their operating system to IOS 7. The software not only flips out the wifi switch, it drains the battery at an alarming rate. The software is putting too much strain on the hardware and the results are as seen.

There are armies of owners freezing their phone or heating with hair driers around the world but Apple will not take resonsibility for it. It fixes it for a few hours/days, then it fails again. Repeat ad nauseum.

Why not? Because that would mean they are responsible for all failing phones, both those within warranty and those who are not i.e. every single failing phone.

Now I don't see Apple as ogres but I do recognise that they are never going to put their head on the block or be the chicken that walks into the slaughterhouse.

What they may do eventually is do a further update to the operating system that resolves the issue, but they will not accept responsibility for that would be legal suicide

I'm not a victim of this as I have an iphone 4, but I know 3 people who are. I only know 4 people with iphone 4s.

C'est la vie.
