Apple ID for iTunes and iCloud are not the same? How to change iCloud id

My wife changed her Apple ID via her iTunes account. Her iCloud account is set up on her old email address and she cannot access it, therefore the Cloud is not syncing. How can I get the iCloud account to work? Was the iCloud account changed when she switched her Apple ID and with the same password?

iMac - intel, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

She will need to sign out completely in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud and then sign back in with the new ID.
