My iPhone 4s started saying 'connect to iTunes' and when i try to restore it says error 1 and nothing fixes it. Its been doing it for the last couple of months and i didnt do anything to make it stuff up

iTunes error 1 is invariably hardware failure.

AS stated above... Error 1 is usually a Hardware issue with the Device.
However... Try a Restore once more... and when Prompted... Choose... Restore as New.
If the Restore is successful... then try a Restore from Backup.
If no joy...
Then a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step to have the Device Evaluated...
Be sure to make an appointment first...
