Highlight the entry in the search bar and press "enter".
Best.
That does not work. If I end the field with .com the entery key does work. Baffleing. I have reset safarir and there are not extentions being used. I changed the search engine to bing and still have the same issue.
Delete Safari .plist file.
Quit all applications.
Option click the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
Select "Library" from the drop down.
Library > Preferences > com.apple.Safari.plist
Right click on it and select "Move To Trash".
Restart. Relaunch Safari.
No Luck! I had tried that before and just tried it again.
If I start my computer in safe mode, it works fine. I don't have any startup items or extentions at all.
Since it works in the Safe Mode, it may be a 3rd party application propblem. Try running this program and then copy and paste the output in a reply. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read.
Any update on this issue? I'm having it now with Safari 8.0.2 OS 10.10.1. It started right after getting my macbook's logic board replaced.
Safari/Preferences/Advanced - enable the Develop menu, then go there and Empty Caches. Quit/reopen Safari and test. Then try Safari/History/Show History and delete all history items. Quit/reopen Safari and test. You can also try try Safari/Clear History and Web Site Data. The down side is it clears all cookies.Doing this may cause some sites to no longer recognize your computer as one that has visited the web site.
Thanks for the response, Eric. No luck though.
Same here, scrambled characters in the address bar.
Also the tabs are not showing properly
Me too. Yesterday was fine, today is broken. I had already deleted.. plist file but no luck.
I will check my wife's Mac when she will get home.
Update:
If I write a complete site name like "www.google.com" it works. Maybe there is something broken in their search engine.
Interesting. Same issue, cannot use enter key to search and Safari is misbehvaing.
It happened after I updated today. I think this has something to do with them!
I have too, the same problem.
UP:
Safari > Preferences > Search > Include Safari Sugguestions (Uncheck) and restart Safari
