Free software to combine documents into a single PDF?

Hello,

One feature I really love about Adobe Acrobat is the ability to very easily combine a bunch of random files into a single PDF.

Is there any free software for Macs that would do the same?

Thank you!

Preview can combine PDFs. See Preview Help for instructions.

There are a number of variations in the exact procedure. Here is one: Probably the easiest is to open the first document in Contact Sheet view, View > Contact Sheet. (First choose File > Duplicate if you want to preserve the original.) Drag the second PDF and drop it wherever you want it among the page thumbnails. Repeat as needed.

You can create an Automator Service that combines selected PDFs.

Start a New Document, Pick Service.

Set it to receive PDFs in Finder

Drag in a Combine PDF Pages action from the PDFs Library.

Drag in a Open Finder Items action from the Files and Folders Library.

Save it with a name like "Combine PDFs"

Select the desired PDFs and ctrl-click.

From the Services submenu, choose the service you just made.

You could also add a Compress Images in PDF Documents and/or a Quartz Filter action (set to Reduce File Size) after the Combine PDF Pages action.

That will allow you to shrink the file down a bit.
