I am having intermittent issues with my sound

I am having intermittent issues with my sound.

I don't know what causes this. It usually happens after unplugging and replugging my headphones. I am unable to hear ANYTHING -- music, ringer, keyclicks, etc.

To get around it, I either have to unplug and replug my headphones (again), or switch to vibrate back to ringer. This is VERY annoying.

I have an iPhone 5c and iOS 7.1. I've noticed that it seems to be happening after I installed 7.1.

Is anyone else having the same problem?

Hello PianoRayK,

It sounds like your headphone port on the iPhone is not consistently connecting to your headphones nessecitating the need for unplugging them and re attaching them. I recommend these steps from the following article:

iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting

http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802

  1. Inspect the headset jack for debris and clean if necessary.
  2. Connect the headset and make sure the connector is pushed in all the way.

My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

Contact Apple Support.

The next time that the issue occurs, use step 2 to see if perhaps the connector is not all the way in.

You can also try backing up your device to iTunes with this article:

And restore it from your backup with this article to erase the previous iOS installation, and install a fresh copy:
