I used to be able to use my HP printer Office jet 5400, but it started working not badly but spitting out one or two extra pages. Now it somtimes cannot talk to the printer and it might print part of document then spew out page after page of garbage

Can anyone help with my printer problem?

PowerMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2), Printer problems
