When I download email to the Ipod it is supposed to delete the mail on the server after 1 day. The server is a POP server. Mail does not get deleted at all. I have to go into the mail server and delete all the mail I have downloaded to the Ipod. Any ideas?

Different servers have different settings.
This is for Outlook, and may work for others as well.

My server requires I change settings within the server to save or delete emails that are forwarded.
Maybe I should explain again. I am not any kind of computer person. My IPod settings are
Delete from server when removed from Inbox>
when removed from inbox is checked
but that is not working

And, as i posted, the link is for outlook mail. WHAT MAIL do you use? Gmail, yahoo, Outlook? Hotmail? Mail from your internet provider? Godaddy?
This information matters, or I would not ask.

My provider is Cox, my mother uses Comcast. Both set up the same, yours may not, but it's a start.

Once set up, go back and look at "advanced" set up draft, sent, trash and archive

You most likely need to go to your providers web mail using safari and check the settings in mail. They may "forward and delete", "forward and save a copy".
Thanks. I will review all and try and see what happens. I noticed I said Ipod it is an IPad.
I deleted the mail account from the IPad and created it again based on your information. The setting on the IPad is to delete the mail from the POP3 server after 1 day. It still remains there, won't delete. Checked with the mail server provider and they sent me to a link basically the same as what you supplied. Any ideas?
Go through the settings from your provider and make sure that they exactly match what you have on your iPad.
Done that.
Have you done a hard reset, by holding the sleep and home buttons until it reboots? That solves many strange issues.
No. But I can try and would have to wait 1 day to see if it works. I don't see anything on the IPad that let's me delete it from the server as soon as you download. The minimum is 1 day or more.
I have done all this. Delete the account under Mail, Contacts, Calendars
built the account again.
Under the Advanced settings and incoming settings
Delete from server--shows When removed from Inbox
but it is not doing it?
