my itouch won't show up in itunes

i had just bought this ipod touch a few days ago and when i plugged it in for the first time i got a prompt to pick a default action that no options showed to connect to itunes, so i picked show pictures and videos. but now since then and every time i plug it in the action "searching for videos and pictures", then "no videos or pictures are found on this device" pop up, and the itouch wont appear on itunes. how do i get my itouch to sync into my itunes?

iPod touch, iOS 6.1.6

- I would start with

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP

or

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

- New cable and different USB port

- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

i did all of this, but it still has the "no videos or pitures are found on this device" prompt and it will not show.

it was a default action at first, im trying to find out on my own cuz i dont think u see what im seeing and screenshot wont work, so how do you reset the action to choose a default action thing? i think that may be the problem
