I cannot download itunes onto my laptop, what does this installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid window installer package mean for window 8?
My windows accounts is set to administrator and i have tried deleting the temp files as advised on apple website but this does not work. Someone help im going loopy!!!!

You may need to remove iTunes and all of its components and try to install again:
Issues installing iTunes or QuickTime for Windows

Click on this link to download the latest version of iTunes for your operating system. The blue Download iTunes button is at the top right corner of the window:
Apple – iTunes – Everything you need to be entertained.

Thanks for your help however this has not helped me as the is a NEW laptop and i seem to cant download it again not sure why its giving me an error message

Something funky going on if the installer cannot be opened. You could try downloading a copy of the installer on a different computer, check that it is valid by opening it, then cancelling the installation, then copy the installer to your machine by way of a memory stick.

In that case can we confirm exactly what version of Windows you are running? If this is a new laptop running Windows 8 or 8.1 I'd expect this to be the correct link.

Hi I bought the PC with Window 8 and then upgraded it by software update to 8.1 this message was happening on both. It is now 8.1 Sony Laptop, I have tried your link and it still giving me the same error message.

I should have asked if it is 32bit or 64bit. The link above is for the 64bit version of iTunes. I'm assuming it is full Windows and not some version of Windows RT?
Download and install 7-Zip(free), then right click on the downloaded iTunes installer file (normally found in Downloads) to extract the contents of it. Install the .msi components in alphabetical order, ignoring iCloudSetup.msi which is for Vista only and the SetupAdmin,exe file which is the normal installer. Even if one of the components won't install you may get a more useful error message as to why not.

when downloading that 7-zip file it gave me the same error message
could this be because of the mcafee internet security? i think its a 64bit i have tried dwnloading both 32 and 64 bit
McAfee could be the problem. Try disabling it temporarily. You may also have better luck using a different browser, assuming you can get one installed. I prefer Chrome over Internet Explorer.
