Because I don't have an official charger I wonder whether it prevents me from Syncing with iTunes?

I fear that since recently purchasing a non-official apple iPad charger I cannot sync with iTunes, the connected

device symbol flashes in the corner for one second before flashing away, yet it still automatically opens my

iPads hard drive and things.

I run Windows 8.1

Unfortunately I cannot remember what model charger it is specifically.
