FCP X Crashing continually while working on titles

I have the Final Cut Pro 10.1.1 Trial, which I plan on buying when the trial runs out in a few days. That being said, I have been using FCP 7 for years and have never encountered anything like this. Routinely in the last couple weeks that I have been working on projects using FCPX it continually crashes while I am working with titles. This is the only time it crashes and it is always while I am working on titles - nothing flashy either - just basic titles. Every time I get this message: "Cannot Perform This Operation - The application detected an error that prevents changes from being saved. To avoid loosing your work, quit Final Cut Pro Trial." I am at a loss as to what could be causing this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am on a Mid 2011 Macbook Pro 17", intel core i7, 8GB Ram and three external drives for plenty of storage space (roughly 6TB so I don't think that is the problem).

This has happened to me while making slates! I had better luck by deleting preferences (holding down cmd-option in 10.1.2) and then WAITING for every line of text to completely render. In my experience when you are layering lots of text layers which begin at the same point, the program seems to be opening/writing a file for that text object. It's probably a bug in the program, but it has been working better for me by allowing every text entry to "render" completely before I continue. A real PITA.

Final Cut Pro X 10.1 and later: Troubleshooting basics

Early 2014 New Mac Pro (2x2.93 GHz 6-core Xeon/24GB RAM/Promise Pegasus 12tb TB2 array) running 10.9.4. Had to output 30 versions of 3 commercials and so I built 30 projects each with a 7 second slate with 4 layers of text each. Worked well for a while and then I encountered the same error message called out at the beginning of this thread. In all other respects FCPX has been pretty well behaved most of the time.
