I can't sync a new playlist, I want to replace the music I have on my Iphone 4s with a new playlist, but the sync keeps saying I don't have enough room. New playlist is smaller

Manage the media on the device via iTunes. There must be sufficient space on the device or content must be removed.
I'm having this exact same issue. The playlist is much smaller and I barely have anything on my phone, but then it shows like 4000 pictures trying to sync as well (which I don't have). I do everything via iTunes and it still says I don't have space (saying I'm missing 1.0 GB), but there are 4.57GB of space minimum available.
