Q: If save a time machine backup to my hard drive can i still save other files to the hard drive or can it only be used for the back up??
Hi Please help!! I am a new MAC user and my disk drive is near full so ive bought an external hard drive to transfer my photos and videos to clear up some space. Im being asked if i want to do a time machine backup which i want to do but im not sure if i do this on the hard drive can i still move the photos and videos onto the hard drive as well, or once i do the back up is that all i can have on the hard drive.

It is recommended that Time Machine has its Own Dedicated Hard Drive that is at least Twice the Capacity of the Drives it is intending to Backup.

It would be prudent not to put All your eggs in One Basket and Purchase a 2nd External Drive for those (and other) Items.
